On my moodle page at the bottom of the my courses page it says "You have 3 hidden course" Any idea what that's all about?

I think I have the answer to my own question. I am assuming that the hidden courses are those that are not accessible yet and are the ones that are shown in the list on the right of the page that don't correspond with the ones that I can access on the right!

You are absolutely right. The hidden courses are modules which your tutors havent made available to you yet.
The modules you do have access to you can access under 'My courses' on the left.
